What pecautions are you and your company taking to prevent the spread of this new flu virus - Swine Flu from Mexico?  Our company has banned travel to Mexico for the time being and all reported cases or symptoms must be reported to HR.  Employees with symptoms are told to stay home, whether they have been diagnosed with it or not.  No confirmed cases here yet, we are taking precautions.  In addition, wash hands, etc.

Nothing so far.  I know a few of our employees travel to the US but nothing has been said.

We've just had an email sent round saying all travel to Mexico is deferred.

Imagine anyone who had a honeymoon booked - it's a very popular destination.

We don't really have anything for our office.  My husbands office has restricted travel to Mexico, as well as some other precautions that you should be taking anyway, like washing your hands, covering your cough, and stay home if your sick. If you feel you have the swine flu, you need to quaranteen yourself for x amount of hours.  So, that's what they are doing, but for us, we really don't have any restrictions.

All travel to Mexico has been suspended indefinitely.  In addition, they sent an e-mail around asking for information on any planned international travel for the next 12 months.  My guess is that they are going to keep this information centrally and then as the flu progresses from country to country, they can notify the travellers whether or not they can proceed with their planned travel.

In addition, of course, they sent around the info about washing hands, covering your mouth, etc.

I just sincerely hope that people heed the warning to stay home if they are sick.  This place is notorious for having people struggle in here sick as a dog, even though we have a very generous sick policy.

I'm not too concerned tbh. There are no cases near me fortunately though.

Since my daughter was ill, I've kept one of those soap free handwashes on my desk, the alcohol type thing that evaporates and kills practically everything!  I'm going to stick one in my bag and just continue to use that as much as possible, although won't stop airbourne virus.

Three cases have been confirmed in my State, hospital workers in the city I work in.  Our company installed hand sanitizer dispensers, the cleaning company is disenfecting on a daily basis, no travel to Mexico, and we have direction to seek medical attention immediately and do not come in the office if you have two or more of the symptoms.

We've had 41 cases in the Chicagoland area. So as you can imagine, it's on people's minds. I know 2 schools in my town are closed and they are thinking about cancelling the high school prom. I would feel so bad for those kids.

Nothing really being done at my company. In general though, I think we are a huge risk. A significant percentage of our employees travel internationally or have traveled from other countries to work here. In fact, I've got 25 or so from my division going to Canada this week and had a dozen or more travel to Japan and Switzerland in the last few weeks. I don't think we do a lot with Mexico though, so that's a little comfort at least.

Our county has 2 probable cases, nothing confirmed, of swine flu and another possible 10 cases, not confirmed yet. However, I live in a different county where there are no cases yet of the swine flu.  They said the one person that is probable was in Mexico for Srping break and was ill when they came home. Then stated that this person hasn't been back to work or anywhere else since they had been home.

2 cases confirmed here in my state.  Our company has banned travel to Mexico and are issuing a travel at your own risk to other places.  Boss is going to the west coast in a couple of weeks, southern and northern Cailfornia.  Urgh.  Wish he didn't have to go since it is so close to the border.  No one has been sick at our place so I am thankful.

We just received an internal memo before lunch that a member of staff is under observation and being tested for Swine Flu.

Doesn't bear thinking about given the aircon constantly circulates germs all round the various buildings.

We are informed a further update will be provided tomorrow morning once the results are known.

A bit worrying to say the least!

Wash your hands and don't touch your face--that's the best protection. My husband is a flu researcher (in animals).

Memo out this morning to say employee's test results have proved negative.

Very relieved to know that.
