Hello, all. I hope that many of you are logged in right now because I need your input!

I am currently seeking employment elsewhere and from a seminar that I attended last week made a networking contact that has actually presented me with a job opportunity today. We agreed that I would submit my resume tonight, which I have been working on updating. The problem is that the position in question is in subscription fulfillment and my background extensively speaks of administrative support roles. Because of my excellent skill and extensive experience with database management and data processing  is how I came to be the subscription fulfillment manager at my current employer in publishing, where I had originally been hired in the capacity of executive assistant. My networking contact is aware of this, but I still think that I should taylor my resume to highlight the fulfillment and data processing experience. I am stumped on how to word the career summary section, which currently reads:

"Highly organized and detail-oriented executive support professional with 10 years of experience providing reliable and proactive administrative support to senior level executives in manufacturing, data processing, publishing and financial office settings. Noted for effectively applying computer systems in streamlining manual procedures. Strong work ethic, goal-oriented, self-motivated and resourceful. "

I can't think of how what target position to use. If I change it fulfillment, experience would then be reduced to only 1.5 years and I don't think I should stress the "administrative support to senior level executives..." part. The remaining sections of the resume do highlight my data processing proficiency and high level of organization and attention to detail, which is what impressed my networking contact, as he told me.

Any suggestions? I need to submit this tonight and my brain has dried up!

What about highlighting your transferable skills and the fact that you have successfully taken on this other role of subscription fulfillment?  The length of time that you have done this job won't be such a key factor; it's your motivation and "can do" attitude that will be more impressive.

Best wishes,

Raindance

Thank you, Raindance. I finally modified the resume summary to reflect the relevant experience and sent it in.

Now that I read my own posting I realized that I truly must have been dead tired last night after a grueling day that many of my sentences were grammatical nightmares!
