Ok, as if Charley wasn't enough, here comes Frances.
To all my fellow floridians in the Southeast, please please be careful. I know the shelves are probably pretty empty right now, but if you haven't gotten your supplies, please try. I can't tell you how thankful I was when Charley came through and I had plenty of water, even though when I bought it I felt kindof silly and paranoid. And, if you are told to evacuate, please be careful driving, I've seen some real idiots on the roads during stuff like this.
My prayers are with all of you, Be Safe!

I know that the area I live in lucked out 3 weeks ago, but this time I don't think we'll be so lucky. I guess I'm as prepared as I will ever be at this point.
Good luck to all,

Sending thoughts and prayers to all of y'all in Florida in the path of this latest hurricane. If it doesn't change course, it's scheduled to deluge us here with winds and rains around Monday, with advance storms leading the way the rest of the weekend. So now I'm preparing my household for the worst too (to include tornados).
Let us know how y'all are doing as soon as possible afterwards, please, as we'll be worrying about you until we hear something.

Well, it looks like we made it through this one, at least for now. We were without electric, water, and phones for 34 hours. Suffered lots of tree limbs and a few shingles. Now that Franny is gone she is leaving us with tornados. DH has been working 14 hour days since Sunday and I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to work. Roads are pretty messy and there's no electric at work.
How did all the other Florida, Georgia, Alabama, etc. DDers make out?

Glad to hear you made it safely Gator! Here in mid-Alabama, all we've had is some winds and sporadic rains, nothing more than normal thunderstorm weather really. And yes, I'm thanking my lucky stars, even though I was prepared with bins of water, bottles of water, generator wired into house so could run my refridgerator, etc... I'm glad to see it missed us for the most part. My MIL and family were trapped here though. They came in on Friday and were scheduled to return home today, but with the bad weather still hitting in Georgia and South Carolina and on up into North Carolina, they've opted to stay another day or 2, depending on the weather. I'm glad, as far as not having to worry about them trying to drive through terrible weather, but will be even happier to see them go. Can only stand so much of them in my house before it's too much! So far, I've kept her from re-arranging anything, but dont' know for how much longer. And they're left at our home alone today, since hubby and I both had to report to work today, so who knows what I'll return home to. But I'm glad that is the most of my concerns.
How about some of the rest of y'all from GA and FL and SC? How are y'all faring?

They closed all the schools in the area today for various reasons, but most businesses are open. My Base doesn't close for much, so I'm at work today. We had lots of rain (over 6 inches) and lots of wind. I'm listening to it howl through the building today; I can only imagine what it might have sounded like yesterday when "Franny" was at her worst. At home, the only real damage we had (personally) was the flag rope snapped. That's easily fixed and our flags didn't blow away. I had thought about taking them down, but decided that they would be okay. I didn't think about that once they were water soaked they would weigh more and the rope wouldn't be able to handle the extra weight of them in the high winds. Also, we live in an old pecan orchard. Pecan trees are famous for losing limbs and branches in high winds. The neighborhood is very littered with little stuff and some folks lost some larger limbs on their trees. (Luckily, I don't have any pecan trees in my yard.) Some folks in town lost power, but we were lucky. Our phones, lights, and cable TV are all still working. JusPeachy
