The following is a summary of the past week...

MONDAY
Boss:  We need to schedule a meeting, but I'm not sure who with.
Me:  O-kayyy.  What's the issue at hand?
Boss:  I'm not totally sure.  I'll let you know.

TUESDAY
B:  We need to schedule a meeting with "Joe".
Me (I'm still relatively new here and there's 14,000 employees):  "Joe" who?
B: Not sure of his last name.
Me:  What department is he in?  I can call over....
B: I'm not sure what department. I know he's a money guy.  (Our financial employees alone number in the hundreds) I'll let you know.

WEDNESDAY
B: Has "Joe" gotten back to you?
Me:  No, I haven't received any voice or emails.
B:  What about his assistant?
Me:  Actually, nobody has called or emailed about any meeting.  Do you know his assistant's name?  I can follow up with him/her....
B:  Uh, I think it's Kathy. or something beginning with a K.  (all together now:)  I'll let you know.

THURSDAY
B:  Marilyn should be calling you later on this afternoon.
Me:  Who's Marilyn?
B: She's Joe's assistant.  (Marilyn starts with K?)  I forward you her email.
Me:  Okay.  I"ll work with her.  Is there anyone else you need to attend this meeting?
B:  No...Yes...No, wait a minute....(once more with feeling!) I'll let you know.
(I'm still waiting for the email with Marilyn's full name and phone number/email to arrive in my inbox.)

It's like pulling teeth!

In his defense he's generally a great boss.  This is the one thing that drives me nuts!  Oh, well.  We're still learning to work with each other and as I learn other people around here it will get easier.  This just struck me as funny.....

Very funny!  I always feel better after I've had a laugh (and a moan) about things.

haha!  well luckily this boss hasn't done anything like that yet, but just today I received a fwd from him that was a how round-robin about some meeting he and the team were trying to schedule.  In each subsequent email they would put in "UberPA please diarise" or "please check with so&so to attend on this date".  The email I got today said "why haven't you scheduled this meeting?"....

Well I never received any of the round-robin emails because they didn't CC me into any of them so I was completely unaware! The original email was sent around about two weeks ago.

I've politely written to the group to say "if you would like me to schedule a meeting based on your email conversations it's imperitive that you include me in the email group as they still haven't figured out a way for email to get from the server to my brain"

Didface / UberPA  - so funny you two today!!!!  Stories to brighten up a dull day!!!!

My boss called - last day today before his holidays - he's not coming in, was limping yesterday and going to hosp' to get it checked!!!  Everybody says he's a big Drama Queen when it comes to stuff like this!

He needs some travel documents so we might see him for 5 minutes, unless he asks for them to be delivered at his house, which a habit of his on Fridays.

However this means I'll finish ON TIME today!!!!  I am also off on my hols'!!!!

That's another very common one uber - and they SWEAR that you were cc'd on all previous emails!  Now if we did that ............................... we'd never hear the end of it!

Happy Friday all!

Just reminded me.  Got a phone call last Friday ''Beatrice, thanks for coming to interpret at the meeting next Tuesday'', me ''what, when, where, who?'
Basically my boss arranged a meeting but in his absence, said I would attend the meeting in his place to do the interpreting [French/English] and obviously he omitted to copy me!!

How funny!

My boss spent the day with his boss on Monday and I didn't get to see him at all.  At the end of the day when I asked him if he was in the office on Monday he said "No, I'm with Mr. Smith on Monday - aren't I!"  He had arranged a meeting that day and somehow thought I would automatically know.  Guess those brainwaves aren't making it through the office walls - wonder if IT can help with this??

Happy Friday all and have a good weekend!
