Took a typing test, oddly enough, for the first time in my LIFE the other day for a job that I'm pursuing.
I had to walk two blocks in 37F temp with a stiff wind and when I got there my fingers were frozen. They had me take the typing test immediately "to get it out of the way". I wasn't feeling too good about this since I generally don't like "tests" in general, my fingers were still cold AND -- believe it or not -- it's the first time I was actually "tested" in typing for a job.
I clocked in at 70 wpm (!) Not bad for someone who only had 1/2 year of typing way back in high school!

Great Job! Just imagine what that speed might be when your fingers are warmed up. Good luck on getting the job, too. With such a respectable typing time, you shouldn't have any problems.

I'm really hoping I do. It's a paygrade increase/promotion (meaning a few $K more) and I'd be going back to a smaller but more intense shop, which I like. What's really exciting is that I'd be helping create a department from the ground up. A LOT more decision making, input, etc, as opposed to just carrying out orders.
Oh, and, um, I'd get an actual office! (I know that's not dealmaker or breaker but, hey!)
I have a second interview tomorrow night. So we'll see how things go. I feel pretty good about it since THEY came to ME and asked if I was interested. I'm also a notch up on the qualifications -- I have more education and experience than the description specifies, although around here they specify bare minimum requirements. I felt very comfortable at the interview with the prospective boss. We seem to be "singing the same tune" in how we approach things and basic philosophies.

Let us know how the second interview goes... It sure does sound like this might be a position with your name written all over it. Good luck! I'll keep fingers crossed for you (though not while typing ). CountriGal Peer Moderator

Sending you good vibes!
My typing is pants - I hardly ever need to do more than a few short paragraphs at a time. Last time I tested it was ca. 50 wpm, but I think that was a fluke!
Good going girl!!

Many moons ago I took a typing test when registering with an Agency, anyhow it was on an electronic typewriter and managed to clock 81wpm with no errors, I was offered a job with the Agency themselves!!!! I didn't take it, and in fact I've never taken a typing test since - surely I must be faster now using a computer keyboard. Good luck being sent your way on achieving employment.
