Y'know.... I just need to go home tonight and talk to my husband about taking a flying leap, and staying at home working my Discovery Toys business.

I finally got my review about 3 weeks ago - 3 weeks later than it was due. Aside from a minor comment about falling behind at times, everything else was high scoring. Total overall score fell in the "Exemplary" range, with the highest raise possible.

Despite my "Exemplary Review", the bossie has been continuing to check her query on my daily progress, and continues to send me emails that say, "What deposit are you on? Just Curious." In fact, she just sent me one.... and when I looked up the query (it will show a date and time last run) before replying to her.... she had *just* run the query. So, she *knew* where I was in my deposits. I feel like I'm in a fishbowl, and it's really hacking me off. I had to restrain myself from replying to her email with a simply spoken, "You know bossie? I can't work in a fishbowl anymore... I resign."

I'm just totally frustrated. I can't deal with this anymore, and I don't think I make enough to justify it. I am just fearful of not making it with my DT business.... and know that my husband will NOT be all that supportive about me wanting to do that. We are just going to have to talk about it tonight.

Sorry gals.... just had to vent. Thanks for listening.

Perhaps you should ask bossie why she is doing this, i.e., why did you ask me where I was in the deposits if you had just run the query yourself?  I don't think that is unreasonable, provided you are calm and cool and professional.
If she hasn't been paranoid before and has now begun to constantly check up on you, something probably has happened.  OR--she has lost funding for your position and is trying to get you to leave (knowing that this sort of micromanaging will irk you), rather than terminate you face to face like a professional.
Good luck on this...

Jade

I know it's frustrating but don't lose your professional cool over this one.

Like Mathwhizchick, I too would be asking bossie why she's asking you if she's already just run a check.  It is wasteful of your time (and hers!) to ask you something to which she already knows the answer.

However, if you ask the question, be prepared for what the answer holds.  Make sure that CV's polished, but don't make her push you out of the door before you're ready to go!

Definitely ask Bossie why she's asking these questions.  You never know, she might be under the microscope and is doing this to others, not just you, as a way of answering the folks over her.  And she might be asking you where you are even though she just ran the query in a way of making sure that the information is accurate from the query, or maybe someone else has set up the query and is running it and she actually isn't the one doing it. You said she didn't used to be like this, and with your high rating it can hardly be that she doubts your work ethics.  It really sounds more like someone else is making her answer to them and not so much a negative against you.  Are there others she supervises that she may be doing the same thing to without you knowing, thus you taking this more personally than she is meaning it to be?  Communication is the key here, so if at all possible, ask her your questions in a cool, professional manner.  It'll make it easier to make an informed decision on what to do from there then.

Well, see that's where I get so frustrated.... when it comes to what I do, she is the only one who cares to know where I am. And, her boss (our Executive Director) has no issue with my work so long as she gets asknowledgements to sign on a regular basis. So, no one is breathing down her neck about my work.

And then.... we are only a 3 person department. The 3rd person is a special events coordinator, and has nothing to do with my job.

It seems to go back to that day she accused me of lying to her. Like, she's trying to "catch me again" or something. The only reason she has to run this query is personal satisfaction/curiosity. And if she knows, then why is she quizzing me? It just doesn't make sense.

My husband said last night that if I get *that* frustrated with it, to just quit and be done with it.... but I'll have to take into consideration the health insurance and stuff before I just up and quit. I'm definately on my way outta here.

I also felt pushed out of a job once - the company wasn't doing well and they were looking at who they could make redundant...  Someone had hinted it to me.  My workload had seriously reduced and I was getting pretty bored too.
I started to look for something else.  It took me three months to find another position but what a relief!
There's no harm in looking and by the sound of it, you need to get out before it starts touching your health (Stress et all)
Good luck
