I am so sorry to hear about this, Jade. I am envious of the quality time you will have at home, though! (Even though I know it all around sucks.) Stay away from those Dove bars, though!!!!!!

Well, thanks guys for the good vibes. I contacted all the agencies out there looking to find me a job, and explained my injury. I told them that despite the Dr. Ordered 8 weeks out of work, I have to pay the bills somehow. I said to keep submitting my resume, explain that I have a broken ankle, that I'll need to be seated with something to prop my leg on, and that I'll need leniency in scheduling Doctor appointments. If they can deal with that, then I can deal with the hassle of interviewing while on crutches (and it really IS a hassle... takes me twice as long to get ready, twice as long to get into the car, and probably 3 times longer to get from point A to Point B on crutches).
I already have an interview for Monday. Guess any company willing to even interview someone with my requirements must be something worthwhile.
Thanks again for the vibes, guys. Keep em comin, cuz they seem to be working!

My company, too, has an office in the Tampa area. It's a smaller office, but we also have on in Orlando, not sure how far away that is for you. I can pass along your resume, if you like. Email it to ssc1208@yahoo.com

This is a bad to worse time for you! I'm so so so sorry!! *snuggles you up a bit* I went through the same thing last summer - moved into an apartment that had more surprises than the landlord wanted to share (windows that didn't stay up, FILTHY conditions that I had to clean for 4 days myself), lost my job and almost alienated my family. But the magic bit of wisdom I have for you is this: Time Heals All Wounds. Yeah, it's lame, I know, but you WILL be a stronger woman for this. There is love and understanding out there and you WILL get through this. For those of you out there who can help, do so. This is how we all remember that we're human. Best of wishes to you and your family, Lori.

You have a very positive attitude and attitude is everything!! I wish you all the luck in the world. And take care of that ankle! With good feelings and positive attitude, not to mention all the good vibes we have all sent your way, it should heal faster than the doctor thinks it will. Go get 'em, Tiger!

Thanks for the Vibes, guys! I got the job!
I'll be working for a plastic molding manufacturer. I knew it would be a good fit when the HR person described the job as "supporting" the Project Manager, and the guy I'd be working for interrupted and said he prefered to call it "working along side of".
They are TOTALLY understanding of my ankle, told me they would be as flexible as necessary to accommodate my physical needs AND my doctor appointments.
Yeaaaaah for me!

What a roller(pardon the pun)coaster ride. I've been away and missed the injury report. I'm glad that the ride is chugging along up the hill.
Congratulations and best wishes to you, Lori. I knew that someone as talented as you would find a "great fit". Don't forget to update us on after you've aclimated yourself.
Your neighbor, Laura
