Looking for idea's for a specific use pen...

I have a co-worker that needs me to order her a pen that will write well in very cold weather.  She travels to various jobsites and needs to make notes outside in the cold.  We are in Wisconsin and weather is below freezing throughout most of the winter.  She has stated that she doesn't care if its felt tip or not.  Her only preference is that it is a very fine tip.

Any one have any suggestions for ones I can check out?  Thank you

We use Zebra brand pens, they hold up in just about anything we dish at em.  DH got me hooked on em and we buy them in the multi pack at Sams.  That reminds me, add that to the Sams list.

I heard a joke about the space pen - millions spent developing a pen that will work any way up and in any temperature. And the Russians used a pencil .

I don't know if a pencil would really work in the cold (anyone got a walk-in freezer to test it?) but those rotary pencils with retractable leads might suit if you have budget constraints. Otherwise I would have suggested what MsMarieH has - the space pen.

I was just going to quote this 'pencil vs space pen'. But I thought (someone told) it was a fact rather than a joke, I don't know. However, the suggestion woth considering.

The story for NASA is partially true and partially exaggerated. It took the developer of this pen $2 million and 2 years, but it wasn't at NASA expense I believe. They do however use this pen on their manned space flights.

I have a Fisher pen, so I can recommend getting one.  And relatively speaking - they are initially a bit expensive (compared to stick pens), but they are worth it.  I bought mine 6 years ago, for $30 Cdn, and I'm still using the original ink cartridge.

As for pencils - when the paper gets wet, pencils tend to dig in and shred the paper.
