Y'all wish me luck today. I have an interview this morning at 1100 EST.

The position is one that I have aspired to for quite some time now. The lady who previously held the position retired in August. She was my role model for several years. If I get the job, I will be supporting the number 2 man-in-charge at this base.

I had an opportunity yesterday to read over the job description and it sounds perfect for me. I am totally qualified for this position.

The only thing that might keep me from getting it would be my lack of a college degree. I've found, though, that if they want you bad enough, things like that can be overcome.

Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for me. Thanks.

Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you (which, by the way, makes it really hard to type!)

It was a comfortable interview and I felt good about my answers.  The boss did his own interviewing.  It's been a while since I had an interview that way.  I like that better than sitting before an interview panel who may or may not know what the job entails.

I've worked for him when his secretary would be on vacation or extended sick leave, but it's been a while.  Even so, I'm sure having had that experience helped my comfort level a lot.

He told me that he had four more to interview and hoped to finish up by Tuesday.  He also said that he, personally, would be making the phone calls and that I would hear "one way or the other" by Wednesday afternoon.

Sooooo, I'm in limbo until I hear something.  I'll keep y'all posted.

Just to give y'all an update...

I didn't get the job.  The boss told me he felt like I could have elaborated a little more on the interview questions.  Unfortunately, I was afraid of that would happen.  I've always had a little difficulty interviewing with someone I've worked for.  I'd filled in for his secretary a few times before she retired and, since I felt he already knew the quality of my work, I didn't go into enough detail.

On the upside, the woman he chose instead, has changed jobs several times and who's to say she won't change jobs again in a year or so.

Sorry to hear that.  We'll just stick to the thought that something bigger and/or better is on it's way for you.  As for the interview problem... now you know that you do this, be sure on the next not to hold back.  Always assume that they know nothing of your skills/abilities and just go for broke.  Sorry to hear you didn't get the job, but holding out the hope for something better (or for this other lady to leave it in her year ).

Hugs to you...  Don't let this affect your holiday.  Hold your family close and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
