I second all comments.

For myself, I think it is more important that they treat me well all year rather than make a half hearted effort one day a year. Fortunately my group is terrific with a very good boss who respects my opinion at all times and treats me like a professional and a full member of his team. That said though, they gave me flowers this morning (which I DON'T plan to give back) and are taking me to lunch on Friday. Yeah!

I agree! We also have terrific bosses who treat us wonderfully all year long and that just makes what they do for us on "Secretaries Day" all the more special.

Sitting here with a lovely tulip plant on my desk...ooh! Flowers that'll only die if I inadvertently kill them

Marie

I totally agree about being appreciated all year round, not on one special day but hey, let's not spoil their fun!

One of my clients - totally unrelated to PSW and PSD - turned up today with 2 bottles of wine for me - he's been going to do it for a while as a thank you for some major work done in January but he's had family illness to contend with which I've also been involved with helping out re paperwork etc, so he wanted to show his gratitude, despite the fact he'd paid for the work provided!  Nice to be appreciated.

I also had a very effusive email from a client this morning for a bulky job of work I'd done way ahead of deadline and emailed to him.  He always says thank you, usually at least twice, and it was embarrassing at first - now I love receiving those emails!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Admin Professionals Day. I just had to share one thing that my co-workers and I received. We work in a school with students in preschool through 8th grade (ages 3-14). One of the third grade classes came in this morning with a sign that reads "We love (with a red heart to stand for love) our secretaries" that everyone in class signed, a booklet of thank you notes (complete with illustrations) to us for everything from answering the phone to handing out bandaids to calling Moms when kids are sick, and to top it all off, sang "Happy Secretaries's Day" to the tune of Happy Birthday. Then designated children handed each of us a bite-sized 3 Musketeers bar. It was such fun! This is one of the great things about working in a school - you never know what's coming next!

Just had to share - thought you'd enjoy this one. Let's hear about other fun/unusual celebrations or gifts.

Nothing unusual on this one, except I've never had this done quite this way.  Bossie and the other office folks are taking the other admin and myself out to supper next week.  (Timing wouldn't work for this week due to many different things, but they told us yesterday that they want to take us out).  Anyway, if my classes work right, we'll be going to the Olive Garden for supper next Wednesday.  Since our office is only 7 strong (including admins), it's kind of nice that they're willing to go this bit extra for us.  Since they also recognize us and appreciate us all year this was unexpected.

Happy Professional Secretary/Admin Day to everyone out there!
