Forget the choice between pine and chrome. The thing that really makes your desk yours is the accessories. What do you pick to show off your personality? Does your intray have to match your pen holder? And do you even have a post-it note holder?

Black, that way everything matches and it's non-intrusive and possibly even sophisticated. 11 / 25.6%

Shiny chrome to add some sparkle to your life. 3 / 7.0%
Wood, natural or polished 18 / 41.9%
Standard office colours, whatever is in the stationary cupboard 3 / 7.0%

I would love to have a classic oak desk.  As for stationery supplies, I would love to have an unlimited budget and have all the latest gadgets for organizing, labeling, etc.  Oh yes, none of that chrome and metal stuff for me.

Classic good quality wood furniture, with a nice finish, with lots of cubbies and holes to file in...  Yup, mine is the L-shaped desk with the attaching "secretary" piece.  Lots of room, both for work space and storage, large surface desk for maximum distance between me and my monitor, etc.  And the natural wood just makes me feel better, more like working with the out-of-doors than these washed out cubicle colors.

Dreaming of my desk now...

Hmm, CountriGal, what you just described sounds wonderful!  I'd also like to add lots of filing space so I wouldn't have to keep things piled on top of my desk.  And I love office supplies - ideally I'd have an unlimited office supply budget and would be allowed to order whatever I want from every office supply catalog out there.  Everything would coordinate and I'd have all the latest gadgets and update the color scheme any time I saw something new I liked.  <g>  (We are dreaming here, aren't we?)  Oh - and definitely some type of cd player/tape player/radio combination.

VegasAdmin.... I think we're in the same dream.    I love all of what you mentioned... and as long as we're dreaming we might as well dream big!

I have to say that I now have my "dream" desk not to mention my own "dream" office.  I have a corner office with large windows behind me and to the side of me.  The only thing is that it overlooks the main highway (rather noisy)...but outside is outside!  I can adjust the blinds if it gets too bright!  My desk is wood (it's reddish - I'm sorry I don't know types of wood) with a large hutch.  I have navy textured coordinating chairs.  The office is spacious and I have a few plants.  Not yet decorated it (I love motivational items so I'll probably put my pictures up that I've bought from Successories and other places).

As long as I can actually **see** my desk (i.e. no miles of piles of papers strewn across it everywhere), I don't care what color it is.      LOL!

I have to agree.  The best adjective for my dream desk would be "empty"!
