Not sure when I applied but I was recently sent a very large sample package of Avery products and a nice coffee mug letting me know I had been accepted into the Avery Ambassador program.
One of the samples I had fun with yesterday.  They have created door hangers with two tear off business cards on the bottom.  I used the same to create funny do not disturb signs for my attorney's office doors.  We are healthcare, on one was a picture of a doctor talking to a patient saying: Due to HIPAA regulations I can not talk to you about your records!
They both thought they were funny.  Attorneys do have a sense of humor!

I'll reply to my posting.  What would you think of taking the Avery door hanger and making it your business card for an interview (two tear off cards on the bottom of the hanging part).  I was thinking the door hanger could say "Executive hard at work, please see assistant" or something similar?  Cheesy?

I'm not quite sure I understand how the hanger would be used as a business card.  I think I need a visual to understand.  Do you mean you would put the hanger on the executives door during the interview and when someone comes up they would take one of the cards?

Some execs in my office use door hangers that say something like "Do Not Disturb" or "Meeting in Progress".  I sit right outside my bosses office, so everyone automatically looks at me when the door is closed.  If you're further away from the bosses door, the door hanger saying "please see ...." would be helpful.

Avery has a template and card stock a single page makes two door hangers and on each hanger is a tear off (business) card.  It's mean for sales teams, or pizza delivery discounts!  Avery template 16150 if you want to check it out.
I wouldn't put it on their door, but at the beginning of the interview when I hand over a business card I would hand the do not disturb hanger with the business card on the bottom that can be detached.

Okay, forgive the dense girl but I still don't quite get it.  What type of interviews would you be handing this out at?
Job interview?

This is just my opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt.  Smiley

I think that handing out a door hanger with your business cards attached will detract from the skills and experience that you'll be bringing to the table. I've read many of your posts, and can say that your interview(s) will easily be based upon your merits. Save the door hangers for other fun activities!

Good luck!

Yeah, I have to agree with MT123, I would not use it for a job interview.  To me the door hanger idea might seem a little gimmicky and its probably better to keep it more formal and professional.  Of course, I don't know where you would be interviewing, so my opinion is based on my interview experience.   Wink

That is why I posted the question - was thinking it was a bit on the cheesy side, but sometimes a little levity in an interview is a good thing.  Not currently looking for a new position, but always keeping options open.
