Our company is struggling and our morale is a bit low this holiday season. Does anyone have any fun office activities that don't take a lot of planning and are fun? I am thinking one day this week we have a cookie exchanged, people bring in 3 cookies, home made or bought, and we just have fun with it. Another idea is an afternoon holiday music guessing game, any other ideas? I am looking for some thing that can be put together by a team of three, trying to motivate other admins, management's approval and a small budget.

Thomkat,
How about a 'dress up' day, with everyone in their smartest clothes possible! (opposite of a dress down day, with money raised for charity - this would be a smart affair for free!).

I like the idea of the "holiday music guessing game", or what about a game of charades?
Hard to get motivated I know, but if you get the chance, go for it.

A potluck lunch with everyone bringing in their holiday favorites?
Decorate your cubicle/office contest.
Rather than a dress up day, perhaps a dress up for the holiday day (holiday sweaters, mistletoe headbands, christmas themed ties, etc.)?
I like the cookie exchange too.
Set up a crock pot of mulled apple cider in the breakroom. Makes the place smell great.

Ugly sweater day? Come in your pj day? (this one could be tricky put limits and make sure you don't have any unexpected visitors) Or just give every one a half day off to get last minute personal items done!

What about quizzes? You can download them from the web (saves time) or make your own up.
On a quiet week, maybe before Xmas or the time in between, this is a good time to be doing this. We did a new quiz each day and out of the two teams, the one who won the most out of 5 quizzes, was the winner and the people in this team were able to leave 1 hour before the people in the other team on the last day.
I am in an office of 10 people but this could work with more or less. Gets you all competing and talking, especially when you are going through the answers. It is surprising how competitive we all became! We broke into 2 teams of 5 people each so even though you are doing this on a day when you are working, at some point, someone was able to dip in and out and write the answers down.
For example, a quiz of logos from various companies - cars, businesses and so on.... Have the logos printed onto a page(s) and you have to write the name of what it belongs to next to the logo. Hand out at 9am and have a cut off time of, say, 2pm - then at 2pm, someone calls out the answers - the one who gets the most wins.
Another one was initials of sayings that you had to write out in full, for example, 'A B in the H is W T in T B' - the answer would be 'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'. There are thousands of these (again, all on the web if you really can't think of any).
Hope this helps.

I will have to remember the quiz one for .. another time. I like it so maybe we can use it before a "holiday" season. We did tackiest sweater and it turned out great! Every person who wore a sweater was able to vote and the winner got the bosses regifted tackiest "business" gift. Thanks, it turned out better and more fun than I had even hoped for. I don't think everyone has laughed so much in the office in a long time.
