My sister and I buried my mother on Tuesday after a long illness. We are thankful that she is final at rest and at peace. At the wake, someone who did not leave a name but left us the following message. Can anyone tell me what it means? I think I know what it means but need validation from an outside source. How can anyone be so mean at this time.
Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. - Prov. 11:21

You know what, Chikky? Put it down to some nasty human being and move on.
You need to remember your mum the way she was, not the way other people saw (or thought they saw) her.
You and your sister have had enough on your respective plates over all this, and you need time to mourn and grieve in peace, not worrying about some sicko.

Was your mother pretty involved in her church? I don't think the person meant the comment negatively. I believe they meant that your mother (the righteous) is being delivered to heaven as we speak. I can see where it is a confusing quote though.

The meaning of this is -
Evil people will surely be punished, but the children of the godly will go free.
I think biblical text can be misunderstood. It just means on judgement day, the evil will be punished but the children of god will be free.
I think whoever left this message is just saying your mother is now at peace.

I agree with Gee, as well as the end bit which I understand to mean that you and your sister will be ok in the future (nobody 'evil' will be able to hurt you in relation to your mother).
My thoughts to out to you both!
