Hi All,
I received a telephone call from a recruiter regarding a Senior Admin Position. I called her then she called me back. She told me the week of Mrch 22nd, that I would be contacted by another recruiter, when I clall her back two days later, she then said she would give me the interview. We decided that I email her after Jury Duty, which I did. My jury duty was only one day, Monday, March 29th. I emailed her and left her a voicemail. No response. That was last Wednesday. I called her on Thursday, she picked up the phone, without saying hello " Nichelle I will call you back". I have not received any contact and believe that she will not give me a telephone interview.
The kicker is, that I have applied for another position and when I looked at my status on line, it said "To Be Screened for position" and I have not received any contact for that posiion. Well. this is the same recruiter for the Senior Admin Position. What should I do? I wanted to go over her head, but she seems to be a senior recruiter.

Nichelle,
Move on from this recruiter. To keep calling makes you sound desperate. I just can't believe this person replied to your phone call like that. This recruiter is not a professional and does not treat people with dignity and respect. Do you really want deal with someone like this?
Then another scenario maybe that they are getting swamped with requests for the position and have not found the time to get back to you.
Either way, move on.

The thing with recruitment agencies is, they are inundated with so many inquiries for the same vacancy, they don't have the time or the resources to manage themselves.
I have registered with agencies and applied for vacancies where the job never came to fruition, either it was put on hold by the client or the job was filled internally. It was only the fact that I chased them to inquire what was going on, did I find out.
It's good to get closure but don't dwell on this one. Move on to the next vacancy/recruitment agency. It's their loss. Something better will turn up.

I second all said so far. I could write a book on unprofessional (in my opinion) experiences with agencies and their staff. Not all set out to give this bad impression but as Gee says, they are inundated with enquiries for any one vacancy they advertise and usually now say, if you have not heard from us within 3 weeks, assume you have been unsuccessful.
Even when you have built up a 'relationship' with someone at an agency (met them, done the tests etc etc) I feel you then become a name on their books. My own calls have not been returned, my email queries unanswered and so on. When you are sitting in front of them in their office, they talk to you as if you are their best friend, but call them the next day,and they struggle to remember you.
It's not personal but very frustrating. Keep on trying and don't pin your hopes on one position or one agency - keep plenty of irons in the fire. Something will turn up. Good luck.

Bear in mind. these people are paid by placements. You are what they are selling to their client looking for a person to fill a positon. Remember, when talking to them they are sales people even though they have the title recruiter in front of their name.
