Ok, it is Monday and I should put a fresh new Sound-Off.   So this week my question is..  What do you do first thing Monday morning to get back in the groove after a weekend.  (I believe UK changed their time this week).   Are you a fuzzy headed... ok takes 30 minutes to figure where you left off, or just right back like you where in the office the day before.

I am a fuzzy, get me my coffee, look at my to do list person!

I tend to have a little routine every work morning when I arrive at the office ... cup of tea and 10 minutes round a few websites: the local paper, Desk Demon and a couple of other then touchbase with personal e-mail.  Then I am ready for the corporate day.  Applies to Monday as much as any other and just helps my work day start focused.

Monday is Monday, back to work.  I don't find it difficult at all to get focussed, it just seems to happen naturally.  There is usually too much going on not to be focussed.

I usually check my bosses emails first, then his diary, and then my to do list.  I'm then ready to update him when he arrives in the office and I carry on with my day and whatever needs done.

I start the morning by getting my boss a cup of coffee, or tea, check the bosses e-mail, schedule then my own e-mail and schedule.  Prep for the mornings meetings and answer correspondence.  I keep a running to do list so I prioritize and away we go!  Never check personal e-mails or DD at work.  IT is watching:)

I'm creature of routine Monday or any other day now I think about it.

Arrive at office, greet colleagues as I begin the long walk to my desk, start up PC, make coffee, check DD and my a couple of other sites I'm involved in.

The I begin 'real' work! Look over emails for bossie then mine and progress to the pile of papers I have left the night before so I am up and running - but my day never starts until I have had a coffee and a kit-kat  Cheesy

Before I do anything, it's a cup of coffee first and my hot oat meal for breakfast while I work, then it's open up bossies office and head down to my other department for the morning. Log into the computer, check emails, and start looking at where I left off with problem child invoices from the day before.  Once fedex comes, then it's time to sort thru batches of invoices and get those prepared for payment for the week, and basically repeat!

I need my coffee and bowl of oatmeal, and a check on the "news" but I get in 15-20 minutes before my official start time to attend to that.  I find an empty cube or conference room and just have that quiet time to myself.

Last thing I do on a Friday is make sure my to-do list is up to date for Monday and tidy up my desk, so it's not too difficult to get rolling once Monday starts.  Of course, a single voice- or e-mail on a Monday can shred that plan in 15 seconds!

Mondays were always foggy for me until I was assigned just last month to start Monday morning meetings each week.  I must be on my toes right from the start, so I wake up at 5:00 in order to get to work early and get started right away.

I quote from KatieG's post above - "Of course, a single voice- or e-mail on a Monday can shred that plan in 15 seconds!"  and usually does.  Although I have found 5 - 10 seconds is the usual time it takes to skew the whole plan and into re-group mode I go:)

Hope all have a Happy Monday tomorrow and Great week next week!
