Many times offices are slow at the holidays.  (some maybe MORE busy..).  What do you do when it is slow in the office?  Do you think you will have a lot down time in December or will it be a normal month.

--------

My answer it is December is very normal.   There is no down or more busy time due to the holidays.  Now if we have projects going on that is different.  When it is slower, I like to through and clean up my email.   I am not the best at organizing it on arrival.   I go through my computer files and look for large size files and stuff that is older but can be thrown away to keep my hard drive space as low as I can.

Ironically I've never been busier, which is great.  However at this time of year I would expect to be winding down not still booking travel!

Merry Christmas everyone!  Cheesy

Travel has slowed down somewhat for me.  i am using this down time to schedule next years standing meetings ie: weekly staff meetings, 1 on 1 mtgs with staff, weekly conference calls with field mgmt teams, etc.  Next I plan to clean out some old files.  Have been working on the electronic holiday greeting my boss sends to key customers and a project I have been given.  It is nice to have this time to breath and get caught up before the mad rush of next year and 4th quarter!

Looking forward to having time off with family and a few days away from work over the holiday period.

It's reasonably quiet for me at the moment following a very hectic period and a lot of change, including a new boss - who, thankfully, is a great guy but is also working from home a lot during this period.

The book-keeping and payroll that was outsourced 18 months ago is coming back in house to yours truly (which is fine, I did it before and it actually generated more work for me having it outsourced), but I will be able to keep neater files in house than I did when I had to keep extra paperwork because of the outsourcing.

So I am in jeans and having a good old tidy up!

Typically, what I do during slow times is do some backlogged filing, update the Administrative Assistant Manual or "clean out files." One key idea during slow times is, even if it is slow always look busy!

It's now quiet for me because a) term has finally ended (two weeks ago) and b) bossie's left the country for the holidays.

Having said that, though, I'm slowly working through all the things I don't have time for in full term!!  But it's a quieter pace, which is a GOOD THING!!

Hope everyone had a chance to get a break!
