If you look at your official job description, how close does it match what you actually do?

I don't think I have an actual job description. For me I think "Do whatever needs to be done" is about as close to a job description as I have.

My job description and advertisement for my role as a PA is completely different to the job I carry out, since starting my post the role has changed considerably but this has not been reflected in the official job 'description'.  Dont think too many jobs conform to the descriptions and are ad-hoc so to speak.

I've never had a job description for this role!  My boss described his "ideal" day re appts, reports he'd like etc and that was the basis of it.

It is pretty much what I do as well!

I don't have an actual job description, but my duties match the classified I answered.  Over the years I think I have finally learned the right questions to ask in interviews - but I always love that all inclusive "other duties and responsibilities as assigned"!

I would have to say no at this point but in reverse of the usual situation.  Currently, my job description lists more duties than what I do.  That is because the position is new and I still have a lot to learn.  So, the job description really describes what I will be doing when I finally learn all I need to in order to do the job.

Yup.  This new position might keep me offline most of the time, but the job description exactly matches what I'm doing, and that's a great feeling.

It only matches about 25%.  Unfortunately, all of the Admin job descriptions where I work are the same, even for different levels and different departments.  They're all very, very vague and general.

I think mine is fairly accurate although as I recall before I went for interview, the job spec I got was general and did not detail specific tasks I am carrying out now.  How relevant that is I am not sure, but jobs vary and change no matter how long you have occupied a post and I like that.  It means you are not doing the same tasks all the time and in my current role, I have been given more opportunities every so often which I am pleased about.

My job desription covers about 50% of what I do, but it also has this vague statement, "Other duties and special projects as assigned."  I don't get to choose or say no to projects, and currently I love my job but feel swamped every minute of the day, which I do not like.

Mine is about 25% accurate.  The other 75% is not covered - as I do special projects
