This is probably more for the US members.  Brought back lots of memories

YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70'S IF...

You wore a rainbow shirt that was half-sleeves, and the rainbow went up one sleeve, across your chest, and down the other.

You made baby chocolate cakes in your Easy Bake Oven and washed them down with snow cones from your Snoopy Snow Cone Machine.

You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked.

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a basket.

You even owned roller skates with metal wheels.

You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (Admit it!)

You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.

You had rubber boots for rainy/snowy days - remember Moon boots (you then advanced to Duck Shoes in the 80's)

You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the Dorothy Hamill" because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. How traumatic when people thought you were a boy.

Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.

You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.

You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple shredded outfits.

You spent hours out back on your metal swing set with the trapeze.

You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color.

You even had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle).

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!

You wanted your first kiss to be at the roller rink.

Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" and you kept it "pretty" with  the comb you kept in your back pocket.

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school.

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.

Every now and then "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the movie, "Annie" will pop into your brain and you can't stop singing it the whole day.

It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!

You asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry: Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?"

You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack albums.

You made Shrinky-Dinks!

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.

You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club.

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.)

You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics.

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with  heart or rainbow designs.

You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.

You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin.

You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.

"You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend. "

Oh brings back memories, the good ole days!  I used to record the Dukes of Hazzard with my tape player every Friday night that way up to the TV speakers and no one could make a sound for an hour, poor doggie couldn't even bark, poor bobo.

Way cool...thanks for sharing.

Yes, those do bring back memories! Don't forget about these, too:

* mood rings

* pet rocks

* stuffing your jeans in your knee-high boots

* wanting to be Lynda Carter in "Wonder Woman"

* wanting to be one of the girls in "Charlie's Angels"

I'm in UK and you know what.....all of this is back in fashion - ponchos, Starsky n Hutch - I too had roller skates with metal wheels and I still wear Scholl sandals - so good for your feet (cos I hate slippers)!!  I used to laugh at how it was fashionable to stuff your jeans into your boots.  Now we're turning up our jeans like the Bay City Rollers did .................... swooooooon!!

G

PS.  As for "Who will I marry: Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?" I think I had their pics on my bedroom wall!!!

The Judy Bloom books, as well as the posters from the weekly reader, were the highlights of those years for me.  Followed shortly by friendship pins, which I just had to learn to make and still have tons of beads for.

Those were the years...  and Shaun Cassidy is my husband, though he (and DH) just don't know it yet.

For me it was John Schneider aka Bo Duke who is my "hubby" and has been for years.  I still keep track of that guy and just got an autographed CD from him.  Nice to know he's still out there making music and on TV too.

Judy Blume, she was fabulous! Every year at school the first years would discover 'Forever' and it would disappear for months until they'd all read it! IIRC there was Katherine and then there was Michael and then there was 'Ralph'.

My first Judy Blume was 'Just As Long As We're Together'. I loved that book, I can still remember great chunks of it and I haven't read it in fifteen years or more.

All these girls were so lucky because they lived in America.

I loved Judy Blume books!  Though there only seemed to be one copy of 'Forever' that went round our school!

My favourite book of hers is 'Summer Sisters'.  A great book which I still read frequently.

And as for 'Ralph'......well I still can't help but smile coyly when I hear that name!

All the best,
Nicola.

Laura Ingalls Wilder- Little house on the Prarie.  I know most of you recall the TV show quite fondly but oh how i recall those books.  I was in the 4th grade when I discovered them and read every one over and over.  I still can recall walking around the house one day feeling that something was just "wrong" and then it dawned on me that I had put down the book at a point where Pa was lost in the snow and it was Christmas,, I got that into them. They began a love affair with reading for me that stays with me even today and I recommend them for anyone with a young lady in the house, whether US or not!

I agree Andrea, they really are great books!  I was lucky enough to go to DeSmet, SD which is the homestead site of LIW and took the town tour and they had a working farm that was quite nice to see for a day.  That was part of our 3 week adventure a few years back and it was quite the trip.  I still look back on that trip with lots of good memories.  That was the beginning of our trip and I kinda wished it were at the end so we'd have more time to spend, but all in all it worked out great and I recommend going there if you are ever in the wonderful state of South Dakota.

And of course, if anyone is ever stranded in SD, they are more than welcome to call on my very own ma and pa.  SD, a state where the folks are friendly, and in most places you leave your car and homes unlocked without worry.  Ahhh... now it's making me homesick.
