I'm an Executive Assistant at a radio station with a small staff (4 "radio" staff and 4 admin staff). Of course, I am one of the admins, and am technically over two of the others. The one who I am not over is leaving us in a couple weeks and we are dispersing her work among the three of us.
I have never done much to fulfill my role as "supervisor" to the other two up till now, as I've never been in a supervisory position before--I mostly just answer their questions and assign them tasks. I feel that now, when we are all taking on a slightly bigger load, is a key time to step up and fill my supervisor shoes more fully.
I have mentioned this to my boss and we have an appointment to discuss it in greater depth, but I wanted to get some fellow admins' input. Is anyone else over other admins? Can anyone suggest ways to be supportive and helpful to my "team"? I have to admit that it's a bit strange for me, having never supervised before and having been their supervisor for a year now and not having stepped up yet. But I am determined to make their time here better and to help them through this transition.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
