Well, I found out Thursday that I have to have my gall bladder removed - plus I have some serious problems with my left knee (both from old and new injuries) that may also require surgery.

I'm too new to the company to use short term disability or FMLA, but fortunately I can take an unpaid leave of absence.  I recently crafted an office manual, so I can at least leave SOMETHING behind for the poor temp that may have to fill my position.

Any other suggestions as to what I can do to help ease the pain of my not being here, probably for a 1-2 month period?

Thanks,
Kat

Just wanted to tell you that I had my gallbladder removed about 1 1/2 years ago.  They did it laproscopically, and I was only out of work for a week.  Not all that much pain, either, just hard to roll over in bed and get up from a sitting position for the first few days.  Not sure about the knee, though!  Hope that is easy too!

Yes gallbladder removal no big deal and you'll have only a small scar like a dimple Smiley  Good luck to your temp but if she's done this before hopefully she'll be prepared for chaos but that manual definitely a good idea.

Last time I had a temp in a left her about 5 pages of instructions on everything I could think of and she was eternally greatful, even down to where to get lunch and go shopping near by.
