***I was finally offered the job today! YAY!!!***
After over 2 months of temping and seriously wondering if I was becoming a mushroom (as Oz said recently: kept in the dark and fed nice, rich horse manure) -- being led to believe that the hiring process would be wrapped up "any day" -- and after firmly deciding that tomorrow at 4:00, if I had not received an offer I would call the agency for another assignment and announce my move to the supervisor, it finally happened. Seems that the supervisor wasn't just yanking my chain!
It's about a 15% pay decrease and a lower grade position, but it's also a bird in hand and since I'm making it back to the university before 6 months since my last day of employment I will not lose any time - my years of service will still be since 1995 - which means things like I didn't lose any ground on how much vacation time I get per year!
I can't tell you how relieved I am. The most important thing is that I'll have my tuition benefits again for the kids - who are now in 12th, 11th, and 9th grades. It holds the potential of ~$13,000 college tuition paid PER child PER year. The university will pay half of any accredited university's tuition - the only caveat being that figure may not exceed the cost of half their tuition (half is approximately $13,000).
I was truly hitting depression, too. That should begin lifting!
Oz, I'm sending you some "get a job" vibes!!!
