Well, my annual review was today and it was rather disappointing.  First of all, we're only getting "cost-of-living" increases this year, so my "raise" was only $0.25/hour. I guess you can't complain in this economy, though!

Then the focus was issues with my proofreading. I have worked hard on this especially in the past three months and I feel that I've made a lot of progress, but of course I can still improve. However, the principals/my supervisor don't see much of the improvement. I think most of this is because they just don't see what I DO every day--I mean, when a letter is fine, they don't pay attention--they only pay attention when there's a mistake. So I've developed the strategy of printing out examples of everything I work on in a week, with all my changes & fixes on what the engineers give me highlighted. Then they can see how much stuff I actually do catch--and that with an improved record has gotta impress somebody, I hope!!!

Good luck on that.  I hear you.  They never notice when you are doing things right.  Only when you do things wrong.

I so agree, as I help out a/p alot they do notice the mistakes more often then not and forget about all the items you did correct that day.  Although at least my help does seem to be appreciated, and that goes a long way with me. Mistakes and all.

Another thing you can do is suggest that they send you to one of those business writting workshops.  It might satisfy their worries as you would be trying to improve your proofreading skills.
