Has anyone ever used http://www.hotwire.com/index.jsp for purchasing airline tickets? It seems like a gamble, and I'm not sure I'm willing to gamble right now... Any thoughts? DonnaP99

Nope never used it. I specifically stay away from priceline cause they want a credit card in the system for the lowest rate and bill ya for it, I really don't want any company like that to have my credit card on hand especially with so many .com's going belly up just as quickly as they come. I would stick to the well known websites for airline tickets such as expedia, orbitz, travelocity. They've been around a while anyway. My .02 cents Chris68 Deskdemon Forum Board Staff

I haven't used Hotwire, but I did use Priceline.com and had good results. And if your concerned about giving your credit card info, you can always get a one-time-use type card. Some credit card companies are offering this service, where you can get a card to use online and the info (card #) isn't the same as on your original, but it charges to the same card for that one time use.
If in doubt though, I'd not use them.

I suppose it's ok if you don't care when you travel, but I don't like having to buy a ticket before I can confirm the times.

I haven't looked at priceline ever since they asked for a credit card number before they would tell me where or what the hotel room was that I was looking for. I punched in the rate and location I was interested in and the next thing I know it's demanding a credit card so they can BOOK it for me. Ummmm, hello? I didn't say I wanted to book it yet, I was looking for options! It seemed like a scam at the time so I backed out and haven't gone back since. Is that how it's supposed to work? If so, I'm not interested!

The huge problem I encountered with Priceline was the fact that you weren't just booking a room, you were paying for the night in advance. My DH and I thought we were just booking a room. Then I got sick, and we had to cancle. $50 wasted that I could have put to bills.

Hi Donna, A co-worker mentioned to me that she had no problems using Hot Wire when she booked her tickets. I even think she used it to book a vacation trip to Mexico!!! Good luck!! --- Bridget Wife to Eduardo (12/4/99), Mommy to Aaron (10/26/01)
