When the department was smaller, we'd close the department down around 2:30 and head out for a late lunch, from which we'd all head home. However, as the department has grown to almost twice its size, (and therefore handling a lot more work!) it's become almost impossible to get everyone's calendars to work for that.
So this year, we've put out the idea of a potluck lunch with the other departments on our floor, setting up stations in the various reception areas and encouraging people to wander around in order to get a sample of everything (and, hopefully, getting to put names with faces). I'm ashamed to say there are folks on this floor that I talk to on the phone and email all the time, but I'm not sure WHO they are in person!
