Most companies I have worked for have given bonuses.  The executive recruiter I worked for actually gave me a four figure bonus (but that included my 401k match which I thought was odd).  You could have knocked me over with a feather when I opened that check.  Most large US companies have fixed bonuses based on performance and a percentage of your annual salary.   I ask questions about bonuses in final neogiations before accepting a new position.
