Sburks, welcome to DD!
Unfortunately there are a lot of bosses and companies that do not recognize the day or week. If it is definitely a company thing, then I'd just plan on treating myself that week. If not, if it's only bossie that refuses to acknowledge the day or week, then maybe dropping a little hint prior to the week might help. If he really just doesnt' feel it's necessary, and you can't bring any pressure to him (ie: Look, the President's Secretary got such a wonderful boguet, wasn't that nice?) then try not to let it get to you. The main thing is on any given day, are you being told you're appreciated? Or shown in other ways? The day/week is great, but if you're getting the words and/or actions on days other than those set out for them to use, then I'd say you're doing good and not worry.
