I also didn't receive anything from any of my bossies (although I did get a plant from one of the other areas that I support). However, my main bossie is such a great guy. I've worked for him for almost 23 years, and we get along fabulously. He always says thank you (and means it!) when I've done something for him, and always treats me with respect. In my mind, that is a lot more important than flowers or a luncheon one day out of the year. Sometimes after the week has passed, he'll all of a sudden remember and say, oops I forgot to do something for you. And I always tell him not to worry about it, because I value his respect and kindness far more than anything else.
And for one of my bossies who absolutely does not respect me at all and treats me as if I'm stupid all the time, if he gave me flowers or chocolates, I'd probably throw them in the trash because I know that it would be merely a gesture and not sincerely meant.
