I'm with Jackie. Giving is a VERY personal decision and I don't think a company has the right to force people to participate. I know they don't "officially" force you, but there's enough "unofficial" pressure to make it feel like you're being coerced. If someone wants to put a plug on the employee bulletin board and leaves people alone, that's one thing. It's quite another to have people chasing you down the hall on the company's behalf. We had a Heart Association Walk recently. I was not able to participate due to a family conflict. I was pressured to "give $10 anyway so you can get a T-shirt." Sorry, DH was out of work for 9 months this year and we're still watching every penny while his new position gets going. Ten bucks is a goodly chunk of change to us and I heartily resented being put in the embarrassing position of having to decline.
Can you guys band together and decline this dubious "honor"?
