I know it's frustrating but don't lose your professional cool over this one.

Like Mathwhizchick, I too would be asking bossie why she's asking you if she's already just run a check.  It is wasteful of your time (and hers!) to ask you something to which she already knows the answer.

However, if you ask the question, be prepared for what the answer holds.  Make sure that CV's polished, but don't make her push you out of the door before you're ready to go!
