I think it would not be possible doing it in Excel the way you want to do. Marie is right when saying that the spreadsheet will only serve as a guide from where you can get the coordinates of the article and then search it manually in the cabinets etc.

I have 2 ways in mind of doing it for which you would need all articles to be scanned. If that done,

1. You can make a database in Access that would need a little bit of extra expertise
2. You can use Outlook Express as an indirect alternate. Create an identity for Magazine Articles. Send all articles separately (by putting their titles in the subject line and attaching the scanned file with that). Then create sub-folder in the In-box (with in that magazine articles identity) such as trade marketing, consumer etc. You can by this way find the name of the article in the subject line. You can also include in the message the reference no. of the article for manual search etc.

I hope I am able to explain what I conceived.
