I think everyone was relieved with the news of his capture on Sunday, but I was pretty disturbed by the footage the military released of him - it's one thing to release pictures to prove it's him, but to show a video of him undergoing his medical was degrading - isn't it also against the Geneva Convention??  I know he's a tyrant and an evil man, but surely he should still be treated with humanity?  We shouldn't reduce ourselves to his level through such baseness and should try and set the highest example possible.

I just wondered how the rest of you felt about it?

I wondered when someone might post this subject.

Wasn't it against the Geneva Convention to show pictures of dead soldiers?  What are the rules and who keeps them these days anyway?

Personally all I seen was a few seconds footage - I actually watched it to see and believe it was him.  Hearing news as I did from someone on Sunday, you just never believe it so I turned on the tv and saw it was true.

The man deserves everything he gets.  I think however he will be treated with humanity and we won't bow down to his level, but that footage was to prove to the world that he really had been captured.

Imagine if he had killed and tortured your family in Iraq .......

Whether or not it goes against the Geneva Convention, I can't really say.  I'm not familiar enough with all the ins and outs of that to say for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if that was a deliberate move in order to show his followers how low he had fallen in hopes of demoralizing them.  just a thought...

I too was relieved that he was captured, but  I really was hoping for another outcome.  I also can't help but wonder how much money it's going to cost us to keep him alive and safe, and how much money will his trial cost.

I think he will be treated much more humanely than he ever treated any prisioners or his own citizens, for that matter.

I'm glad they were able to capture him alive.  This way he won't be a martyr in his country.

Another thought... they might have shown him getting medical attention in order for there to be proof that we are treating him properly and that any health problems he might have are not a result of his treatment since he was captured.  This diffuses some of the thoughts and such that his followers might have.

I'm glad that he's been captured, and can only wait and see who will be the country/group that eventually tries him and punishes him.  Some countries or groups would have more lee-way in handling him than the US would, but not sure what would be best overall.  Glad I'm not in a position to have to make those kind of decisions.  My thoughts are not all that charitable towards him currently.

I think the photos were probably made to show how far he has fallen, with perhaps a little of the medical care aspect thrown in for good measure.  Theoretically I believe all prisoners should be treated humanely, but my concern for this particular individual is so low as not to register.  Just goes to point out the difference between "them" and "us" (speaking broadly and not referring to ethnicity or religion, but rather to types of people) that "we"--the good guys--are even concerned with the condition of this fellow.  I'm sure that no matter what he is experiencing, it is lightyears above the torture he inflicted on his own people.  I think we should turn him over to the new governing body of Iraq, such as it is, and let them decide what to do with him.  I would definitely not let the UN (for which I have absolutely no respect these days) anywhere near him.
