Exactly.  My posting was about something to celebrate, not an opportunity to nit pick.

Dusty, it will be a holiday in England.

The Scottish Parliament will need to agree it, and I'm not sure how much devolved powers the Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies have for this - they may just fall into Westminster's guidance on this one.

On an aside re the date:  heard it on the news while driving and they kind of paused when they said 29th . . . and I thought no, he's given her the ring already, don't make her get married on the same date (July), but thankfully they've chosen an earlier month!

Soon, though, I bet the chosen dressmaker is already frantically working out a design/pattern!

I am absolutely enchanted with the British Royal family.  We do not have royals here in America.  The British monarchy is the closest we Americans will have.  I will be watching them closely.  And you can be rest assured I will be up at 2 AM EST watching the wedding no matter where they hold it.  Happy days to Will and Kate!

They could have gone for the 30th instead of the 29th  Angry It's a Friday and I will be working sniff sniff so will not be able to follow it on TV.  Though I bet we'll get plenty of it over the week.

I remember watching Di and Charles wedding. Spanish tv broadcasted the whole lot of it.  Grin

Duque,

The Royals usually do not marry on a Saturday...too common apparently!  Shocked

My company is already closed that week for Easter so no idea if we will get an extra day off or not.

Well for Charles and Di, I was off school for the summer holidays and for Andrew and Fergie I was again off for the summer holidays about to start College.

However, Prince Edward (now The Earl of Wessex) married Sophie Rhys-Jones in St. George's Chapel on 19 Jun 1999 - was that a Saturday?!

And, the marriage of The Prince of Wales to Camilla Parker Bowles in St. George's Chapel following a civil ceremony in Windsor's Guildhall took place on Sat 9 Apr 2005.

"Traditionally royal weddings take place on a weekday, usually a Friday rather than a Saturday."

It has been confirmed, my company will recognise the additional bank holiday on 29 April.

We were due to be closed that week for Easter but employees will be re-credited with annual leave for that day.
