Oh, goodness! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to SAH with my kids that I've been bit by the lazy bug! On more than one occasion (this particular internet session included) I have found myself thinking, "What's she gonna do? Fire me?" and I know I have to stop that!

Motivating tips would be appreciated! I want to have my desk all organized and my work as caught up as possible before leaving.... and can't see that happening if I get lazy.

What I would do is just play the mentality game of okay I'm only here for X amount of days and count them down.  Stay positive since you know your on your way out.  Do your best work you can and try to leave on a high note.  I know you are anxiously awaiting being home with our kids, but I would try to concentrate on the task at hand and know that they really don't have anymore power over you so just do what's on your task list to complete before you are done and maybe make a to do list before you leave and check them off as you go.  That way if there is any questions you can show your boss your list and this what has been done.

I know it's hard to do but your days are numbered and kowing that puts a positive spin on it for you and should make it easier for you to deal with these last couple of days.

Good Luck!

Try this mental picture:

You, on the last day, leaving behind a spotless, well-ordered desk with your head held high and a big smile, knowing that you were the consumate professional to the end.    And imagine your replacement gushing to your boss how wonderful you must have been because everything is in perfect order, she can find everything she needs, and, my goodness, she hopes she can live up to your stellar example.....

I'm very jealous of you on this -  in a week or two you'll be completely reborn and rejuvenated.

Meanwhile, if your workplace is anything like every place I've ever worked, your urgent To Do list will take you months to complete - a real stress producer! Instead, try to imagine you're a temp just filling in for the newbie when they arrive. Yes you should do a To Do list, but try and think of it as the newbie's To Do list, and you're just helping out doing what you can before you leave.

Somewhere on your list you could give yourself time to write an induction note to your replacement telling him/her about the main responsibilities, what regular jobs need doing etc.

Have a great time with your kids!
