So, for either personal or business what are you going to do to make 2007 a great year.  Not your new year resolutions but actual actions you are going to take.  (ok resolutions with the constricting title of resolutions!)

Three things:

I'm going to launch my VA business! I've been tied up with family commitments but those are settled now; it'll soon be 'go for liftoff' :-)))

A personal and professional thing, I'm going to encourage people to abandon the slash character in written material and use the appropriate word(s) in its place. Writing is idealised speech and we don't use 'slash' in speech, so why write it?

A purely personal thing: I'm going to make more effort to protest the dishonest actions of our politicians. Here in U.K. we've lost the tradition of political protest, if we ever had it. I'm going to do as much as I can to challenge what they say and do when I think they're being dishonest.

I'm going to be having a surgery (on January 5th) that I have wanted for 10 years.  I'll be off work for 2-3 weeks afterwards so if you see more of me on here, that's why.

Hope it goes well!

I will (probably) be acquiring a new boss in the New Year - my job description has been reconfigured and basically if he wants me, I'm his (within limits - I have a number of other projects which have to take priority).  So my aim is to make his running-in period as smooth as possible.  Also, this is the year that Big Bossie will do things in a timely fashion - 'cept he doesn't know it yet!      For the past year he's been carrying a couple of roles, and using his busyness as an excuse for prevarication.  It's not going to wash any more .... (looks menacing)

I lost my dad very suddenly the Friday before Christmas, so 2007 will be very different for me.  I am also having a big birthday so I say, live life to the full and never regret anything that makes you smile!

G.
I'm very sorry for your loss. My father passes away suddenly as well, only several years ago. It really swiped me off my feet. You are so right, in living without regret.

I'm an idiot - only someone like me posts a message with grammar errors on a forum of experts!!
YIKES - it's going to be a long year.

...or as my mother would put it "don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things!"

Jess (on day three of four day temp job - a good way to start the year!)

Hi Jess,

How is it going?  Any interviews lined up for perm jobs or are you going to temp for a while?

Gee, bless you, you old romantic!  I gave up believing that bosses know quality when they see it this new year.  The temp job(s?) are just because I am skint and trying very hard to sign on (nuff said!).

Recruitment seems to be quiet in my sort of jobs at the moment, but am hoping that it will kick off soon after everyone is back at work proper and remembering what each other did atthe office xmas party - could be more jobs become available.  Yes I know that is cynical but I will gofor anything right now!

So sorry for your loss.  At least he is in a better place and doesn't have to suffer the impending cold weather (minus 14?)
