Honest answer, are you an pessimist or an optimist and for 2014, do you predict it to be a better year or wonder if it will be as good?

Honestly? It depends how tired I am. If I am tired I tend to have a pessimist view of life, but if feeling normal and rested, definitely optimist. I am tired today, but still think 2014 is going to be a great year. I am making my personal goals and trying to think of ways to achieve these goals.

I think the first half of the year may prove challenging for us financially, but the second half will improve.
I consider myself a pragmatist.
However, I am not a worrier and while I do plan for a worse case scenario, I tend to assume the best case scenario will result (an excellent frame of mind which I wish more people would adopt). So I would consider myself an optimist if forced to choose.

Pessimist, I'm always thinking worse case senario (which has saved my fanny a few times!). I would like to think this year is going to be better, but I doubt it. I don't see any changes that are positively moving the jobless rate down significantally. Without jobs people don't spend money, buy new houses, or cars. Those of us with tenure are in constant fear of reduction in work force and that our 401k will bottom out again. I'm just keeping my head down and trying to keep what I have
