Do you order your department's supplies, if so do you get to order "fun" supplies?  I got some colored paper clips today that are really cool! (well, cool for paper clips) I ordered some fun file folders as well.  (Patterned)  Do you get to order fun stuff?  I know I have asked in the past but here it goes again, what do you order that you go.. that's cool.  (My plantronics headset is one for me).  Let's talk supplies!

I used to have to make requests for odd things, such as only green plastic tab not stickies, and before that I used to troll the market for 'free supplies' of stationery, but by far the best, when I find a good suppplier is weedling (sp?) out of said suppliers any freebies - one such supplier in the past at a temp job I had sent me chocolates on a regular basis, especially where his firm were the preferred supplier for any new temp job I got and I let him know I was there!  yummy!  Grin

Now, of course, I have to start at the beginning and try to find a good supplier that delivers too here in France!  Angry

I always look for some inexpensive item to add to my list.  A cool color pen, or colored paper clips and on my last order I came across these
http://www.staples.com/LEE-Tippi-Size-5-Medium-Micro-Gel-Grips-10-Pack-Assorted-Colors/product_372851?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:Office_Supplies:Mailroom_Equipment_&_Supplies:372851:61050
micro gel finger tips, work great if you have fake nails or a nice manicure and don't like those plastic finger con*oms!
Even pretty sticky notes make my day....

I have to say that my fav supply that I got was a freebie at the time, and one which has had me ordering religiously ever since, is the Bic White Out tape in the dispenser.  I had seen it in other "deliveries" but this one works cause I can hold it like a pen, place it right where I want to start it, "highlight" the error or whatever with the whiteout tape and then lift and it breaks off nicely.  Nice and neat.  Really works for redacting materials, because I can take my copy, use this whiteout to redact, then photocopy for whomever needs the copy.  No chance of bleedthrough or scratching it off or viewing it held up to the light... and neater looking than black marks all over a paper.

next to that... sticky notes are always fun.  The colors, sizes, booklets, etc that you can get them in.  Unfortunately, our office doesn't provide anything other than the standard yellow ones, so I buy my supplies at the local stores but try to do it during back-to-school sales and tax free weekends.  Smiley

Just standard items for the office. Now for home, well I love to shop the beginning of school sales. I have all kinds of colors and shapes for stick notes, pens/pencils, etc.

We are on a very tight budget and supplies are used and reused....our Manila folders are pretty beat up.  I do not like ordering supplies, the system we have is so time consuming, it is just not a pleasure.  I feel like we are over paying ...but are mandated to use one supplier.  It is frustrating.  $60 minimum order is required.  Crazy when you need a $15 order.

Crazy.

Peaches-to tack on to that, they also have fuel charges and shipping fees on to that minimum order status it makes it difficult to use that vendor or to justify it.  It's hard finding a vendor that doesn't especially on the fuel charges, and they vary from vendor to vendor.

Yes I order all of the time; color pens, bright sticky notes, color tabs, label makers. We have a contract with Office Depot; and we get our supplies at very low cost and fast free shipping.

I do have flexibility, but try not to abuse it. Since we are taxpayer funded, we take being good stewards of the taxpayer funds seriously.
