PETA to distribute (outrageous) flyers to children at Nutcracker performances.
OK, so I don't personally believe in wearing fur coats, at this point, I am so completely disgusted I could throw up. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can stop this absurd, cruel, outrageous "promotions" they plan to do at performances of the Nutcracker. I read an article in the Boston Herald (although I live in Florida now). After reading the article, I logged on to PETA.com, and they have a picture of the flyer. I have never been so mad, I just don't know what to do. I thought maybe we could all get together and send them a message about how wrong it is to distribute this to children. How dare they traumatize children just because they don't "believe" in fur. That doesn't give them the right to hurt children. Wait til you see it.
If anyone has any good ideas on how to stop this, please post so anyone who wants to can get it together.
Thanks

Hi camki499. I'm not sure I found the exact flyer you were concerned about, but some of the stuff on the site is pretty worrying. There's not really a serious objective look at the issues. Most of the coverage seems to originate in the raging hormonal vortex that stands in place of a brain for our juveniles. And so there's plenty of stuff to give nightmares to younger children.
I assume some adults are involved somewhere, but they can't have any input into the editorial content or there would be tell-tale signs of rational grown-up thought processes.
Curiously for a site promoting vegetarianism (among other things), there's a lot of advertising for Burger King. BK obviously recognise hypocrisy and cant when they see it.
This tasteless stuff is designed to provoke a reaction. In the UK, charities and campaigning bodies regularly get reported to the Advertising Standards Authority for manipulative adverts. Do you have such a body in the States?

I used to get unsolicited mailings from PETA asking for donations. While I'm against cruelty to animals, I would never be able to support an organization that is as narrow minded as this one. My solution to it is to just take all their information, stuff in their postage paid envelope and mail it back. However, if any of these zealots were to approach my child and hand them anything for any reason, there would be heads rolling. I have to wonder if a legal charge could be pressed against any member of PETA who approached a child..........even if it didn't stick in court. Michelle
