Take a deep breath Exec and believe that you are not alone. I know how frustrating that can be. Maybe you can be honest with him and ask him to stay off the phone when he requests that you place a call for him.
Example:
Bossie: "Myra, could you please get so and so on the phone for me right away"?
Myra: "I'd love to do that for you bossie, but could you stay off the phone until I put that call through to you? Last time you asked me to place a call, I had your party on the line for you, and in the meantime, you had placed another call that could not be interrupted. This situation was embarrassing to me because I had initiated the phone call. I felt foolish even though I know it was not your intent to make me feel that way".
Bossie: "I'm sorry Myra. You're right, it was not my intent to embarrass you. I'll stay off the phone while you place this call for me. Thanks Myra".
Just a suggestion Execsec. Anyone else have any ideas how to handle this situation?
