How cluttered or clean is your computer desktop screen? Do you keep it clean or do you have a ton of files and documents on it. I have to say I recently saw an EA who's screen had SO many files! She said she kept them there for fast retrieval.
I have 18 shortcut icons, including my recycle bin. I have no files, but do have shortcuts to Excel, Word and other applications.
(by the way, if you do have many files on the desktop, make sure they are shortcuts, that is one of the ways to slow down a computer)

36 which sounds like a lot. Only a few are files, my quick click to file labels, most are truly short cuts to various programs I use for the company. I use the quick launch bar more than my desk top to access items. I have 20 items on it in a double row. I do have a picture of a rather large tree on my desk top and the icon are arranged on the tree like ornaments, low hanging fruit most used programs!

Normally I have very little on my desktop, as I much prefer it clean. However, my network connection was crashing pretty regularly which forced me to save to my desktop rather than lose the files. I need to go and do some clean up actually, and make sure all the files are where they belong.

I just organized it by putting new folders and deleting old stuff. Much better and much easier to find. My home computer is another story but both computers at the office are finally organized.

I have two monitors, and thus two desktops working as one... and keep many files shortcutted to there. 9 are shortcuts to programs that I have to use to do my job, proprietory programs that is. Then Excel documents, Word documents and Powerpoint documents that I use regularly (read many times a day) so have shortcutted to my desktop. Then there are the file folders that I have shortcutted there, just so I can open a specific file location with one click instead of several as I drill out on the network to the appropriate file. Oh my... on my "reference" desktop, I have over 50 files shortcutted to it... luckily these are large monitors, and I use a small font, so these don't cover the screen but just run down the side in 5 rows... giving me a clear view of my collage of pics of my kittens I put together.
