I had my first year's review in my new position today - and it was a pretty good one! Though there are always areas for improvement, overall the Boss & Supervisors are pretty happy with my progress so far. It feels nice to be appreciated - especially when that comes with an unexpected raise! I also must admit, the good review has given me more enthusiasm for my job, which as of late has seemed a bit dull (although things are bound to pick up!)

Oz - good news. I have completed 6 months here already. I'm not sure if I will have a review once I am here a year or at another time which the company decide. A lot of staff have had appraisals this past month so again not sure what the set up is. I dread these really as there is always something to nit-pick - I seem always end up with a boss who, no matter what you do, it's never right or enough.
Again well done. I haven't had a pay rise since 2003 and only then it was because I took on extra duties and had a change in job description.

Excellent news, Ozzie. It's lovely to see you in here again and to read such positive news. I'm glad your good review has given you a bit of a lift - we all need those pick-me-ups from time to time.
Best wishes,
Raindance

Congratulations! Glad to hear it.
I started my new job in October and my supervisor and I decided on a 3-month review, which we did in February. It was a great review. She is very happy with my work to date and outlined some goals for me to accomplish. And the best yet, is that my supervisor is insistent that if there is anything at all that she is unhappy with, she will tell me IMMEDIATELY and not even wait for a review. Our regular review time is in May, which will be 3 months after the initial review and 6 months from starting the job. We decided to do that one and then I guess we'll just go yearly after that.

Well done Ozbound. I've only been in position for about 9 months and our reviews are changing from the anniversary of the individual starting to coincide with the business year end, so I'm anticipating mine soon. As you say a good review does your confidence the power of good Callie
