Some of you may remember that I've taken on breast cancer as a "cause" this year.  Below is

an important message I just received.  It urges everyone to sign a petition

regarding the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance

companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a

mastectomy.  Please take a minute to go to the web site and consider voting for

this legislation.

Thanks!

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will

require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for

patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the "drive-through

mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after surgery against

the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with

drainage tubes still attached. Lifetime Television has put this bill on

their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over

half the House signed on.

PLEASE!!!! sign the petition by clicking on the web site below and help

women living with breast cancer get the care they need and deserve!!

P.S. PLEASE PASS THIS ON

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.  Yet another woman's health issue.  I've known women who've had mastectomies and been sent home less than 24 hours later.

I know that not all of us here are women.  If you guys jump on the bandwagon with us, maybe you can help in this cause as well (unfortunate, but true that still a man's voice added to a woman's cause can help enormously).  Do this for the women you love.

Just a side note. Men can get breast cancer too.
