Since you posted this Susan, I am now in a different job.

I am happy to say yes we do have a green office and continue to recycle - confidential paper still gets shredded and disposed of in the same way but now we also have separate bins in the office for general waste and other materials eg. cans.

It was annoying at first not having a bin at my desk and I nearly ended up on several occasions throwing cereal bar wrappers or banana skins onto the floor.  It's just a matter of adjusting but it also means we now have to leave rubbish on our desk and dispose of it at the end of the day, or, make several trips to the recycling bins to dispose of it immediately.

My office makes an effort to be green in many ways.

We recycle paper, toner, batteries, electronics, and more. We are replacing light fixtures throughout the buildings with more energy efficient fixtures. We buy hybrid vehicles for our fleet. We have bicycles available for employees to check out to get around the facility (we are on ten square miles of property) and have a taxi service bus that goes between buildings to reduce the number of vehicles driving. We have a website where employees can link up to arrange for carpooling.

We have a cafeteria on site, so employees don't have to travel for breakfast or lunch. We actually also have on site a fitness center (with pool), a credit union, and a laundry facility.

The company has garden plots available for employees that would like to grow their own produce.

We are definitely fairly progressive here. Wink

...and huge Marie!  Your site covers a very large area.  I thought my company site was big.

I like the idea of a "taxi service bus that goes between buildings".
