Okay, I have a question for all my non-IAAP member friends (and IAAP members, too).  We are trying to "grow" our small chapter and are looking for meeting topics that interest our group.  We've surveyed our members and I've scoped out the IAAP forums and we know what we would like.  I want to see what topics might generate some interest for non-IAAP members.  I mean if you saw it listed on a flyer for an IAAP meeting, you would say, gee I'd like to learn more about that.  Some of the things I already came up with are: Your obligations as a Notary, records retention, new office products, business etiquette, proper punctuation & grammar, public speaking, etc.

I'm looking for meeting suggestions that I can take back to our board.  Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

How about something related to interpersonal skills.  I'm something of an introvert (until I get to know folks or I'm crossed about something) and would be interested in something along those lines.

Something that would address how to get things done through other people when you don't really have the authority to "tell" them to do it.  How to get answers, push paperwork through the departments, get calls returned, etc. when you're "just the secretary".  This is my biggest problem at work and I've never really seen anything that fully addresses it.  I have the suspicion that there are little tricks used by those "super admins", you know, the ones who seem to have no limit to their "sphere of influence", who can get ANYTHING through the buearucracy.  Let me in on the secret!

There's a really good list going here!

We're having one in November on resume writing - should be a good turnout, considering how many companies have closed around here.

Another one we're putting on our schedule is event planning.  We're hoping to attract a lot of admins from the area.

I also agree with anything on dealing with people, difficult or otherwise.
