Glad to hear you enjoy it and find this site useful. We're kind of a community or family here, so the longer you stick around, the more you'll get to know all the personalities of the group. We're a friendly and diversified group. One thing to remember... we tend to be honest and up-front about things. We don't coddle or say things just to make you feel good. If you ask for opinions, you'll get them -- just remember that that's all they are, opinions, and you have to do what is right for you and your situation. Also, if you ask for a response and what you get isn't what you wanted to hear, unfortunately, sometimes that happens. Either you might not have explained your situation well, or completely, or you could be off-base, but we'll give you what we see as the "truth" whether it hurts or not. We're here not to pass judgement on one another but to help each other, and sometimes being told we were wrong (handled a situation wrong, did something wrong, whatever) is the only way we learn and continue to grow. And even when we all disagree with one another (and what family doesn't, from time to time?) we do so respectfully and remembering that we all have the right to our own opinions. So feel free to jump into any of the conversations, speak your mind, and listen to what others have to say... that's the only way these forums stay running... you, our users, posting freely and honestly with questions, comments, and opinions.
Enjoy your new position, don't be intimidated, learn from others and your own mistakes, and you'll do well. And another big WELCOME to DD!

My very first job was while I was in high school (won't say how long ago that was though). I worked in the same office as my mom and she helped me get the position. They were asking me to do things that I had never done and did not explain anything thinking since my mom worked there I would know everything. Needless to say, I got fired from that job but that did not stop me from going after the job I wanted to do as an administrative assistant. Every position that I have had since then I have learned a little more about being a "great" administrative professional and how to speak up for what I want and need and how to do the best job that I can no matter what is going on in my life - in other words not bringing home to work and work to home.
