Oh, Peacelilly -
I'm so sorry. Since I got "hit" last week also I can sympathize. The best advise I've gotten is that whenever God closes one door He opens another. Keep looking for the gift that I'm sure you will find in this situation.
Also - be good to yourself. Even if you expected it, a layoff is a shock to your system - especially when you've been doing the same thing for as long as we have. Keep checking in here at TAA; it's like family wrapping their arms around you.
