We've received a request in the DeskDemon offices for assistance in helping to fill a position.  We've checked out the company and here's the scoop on the position, details of how to apply follow:

Central London
Advertising agency, position reports to the MD primarily but to the project manager in his absence.
Position requires a good PA with the ability to organize a completely disorganized manager.
Multi tasking for a group of nine in a progressive new media agency.
Seriously Good in Office, Word, Power Point, Excel, some Access as well.
Duties are traditional in scope, and though you'd be the only support person on board, it sounds to us like many of the duties you'd worry about having dumped on you are already being accomplished by other individuals.

Starting salary is 20,000 with room for advancement
UK or EU Resident

Able to deal with deadlines which are a normal state of being in an advertising environment.

Now, if any of that sounds like your perfect position, send me your CV to editor@deskdemon.com as an attachement, in the email give us your preferred times and place of contact.

We'll remove identifying details from the CV and forward them over and if the company expresses interest we'll call you first to see about how you'd like to proceed setting up an interview.

Obviously these days I'm (a) self employed and (b) live far too far from London!!!

but I wanted to say that I spent five and a half very happy, fun, alcohol fuelled years working as PA to the MD of an advertising agency and loved (mostly) every minute of it.  It's hard work and EVERYTHING, but everything, needs to be done yesterday.  You rely heavily on contacts and you will make great contacts who will be forever useful for the rest of your life.  Deadlines become a matter of course, like showering daily and you get used to odd challenges and rising to the occasion.

Sometimes I felt a bit like I worked for our main client (a bank) but they paid (indirectly through their fees) for every bit of work our studio did on my wedding invitations etc, as the guys designed and printed them for me - at my boss's suggestion - I didn't even think of it.

So if anyone's teetering on the edge thinking will I, won't I?, my advice would be to go and give it a bash.  You'll have nothing to lose and could end up having a whole amount of fun in the process.

Oh, and top marks to the agency for asking DD to find them someone, they're obviously switched on!
