Does anyone know of a good guide online to relocation? DH announced last night that he's going to have to leave his co. soon and we will be moving, probably to the NW suburbs of Chicago. To which I replied, YUCK, but that's beside the point...I'm hoping I can combine this move with a transition into a field closer to my "calling." I'm an AA now and would like to become an editorial assistant with an eye toward moving up to editor someday. Anyone with links or pointers?

I've got a few sites.
Try Move.com to find the new place to live (then include things like local cost of living and such).
Hot Jobs has a section on relocation that might help.

Try careerhighway.com this will allow you to choose a state and field in which you would like to apply and they will email you any new postings on their website.
Good Luck!

My goodness, did you have any clue this was coming? What a shock this must be. I don't really have any advice, but just some good wishes that all goes as smoothly as possible.
Here's hoping you can make some darn good lemonade from these lemons!

What would you really like to know about the Northwest Burbs of the Windy City? (besides the fact that's where I live!). Why don't you email me at daisylee@administrative-assistants.com...I'll see what I can find for you. Also, you might try the the web site for the Chicago Tribune. It's www.chicagotribune.com. They have job listing, real estate info and a few other things that might prove to be useful. In any case, just drop a line, and good-luck! Daisy

Hey, it's not so bad here, you've got four or five active TAA members in this area at least, that I know of (including me!). I like this area! Don't know if you are a member of IAAP, but they are also a good resource. Check the Illinois Division site for chapters closest to where you would be moving: www.iaap-illinois.org. The Golden Corridor Chapter in Schaumburg (my Alma Mater) is a wonderful resource - young (only five years old) and aggressive and extremely helpful. I will help you where I can. We have numerous resources available for you. Was there something in particular you wanted to know about? Anne-Marie's Chicago/Metro Find It listserve is an email discussion group that focuses on finding things in the Chicago suburbs (anything from daycare to a plumber to a cheap apartment): www.topica.com/lists/chi-findit/Marie
