I am in a skittish mood today. So, let me ask you: given the choice, what sort of post-it notes do you use?

NB this is a serious question. Psychological analysis may follow.

Results (total votes = 77):
Plain yellow, standard 22 / 28.6%
Fluorescent colours- hot pink, lime green, vivid orange 22 / 28.6%
Pastels - pale pinks, blues, greens 17 / 22.1%
Aquatic colours 16 / 20.8%
I hate post-it notes! 0 / 0.0%

Nothing psychological about my choice.  The plain yellow ones are all the office manager will order.

Given an option (and not just what bossie will order) I'd go for flourescent, but not green or orange... I like the bright fluorescent blues.  If not fluorescent, then give me bright jewel-tone colors.  Blues, teals, purples, yellows...  Something to shine!

I checked flourescent, but I think what I've got are the jewel-tones CG mentioned.  The joy of being the office manager.  Green, pink, purple, yellow posties, AND green, pink, purple gel pens!

As previously posted, I use yellow because that is what is ordered and in stock.  If I order anything else, boss has to approve it.

Plain Yellow, again because that's what we're allowed to order.

Can we analyze our purchasing department???

But see, if you read the question it reads...Given the option... so, if YOU were the purchases guru and could order whatever you wanted, which sticky-note would you buy?

Unfortunately my company is like all others and only allows yellow, but when I buy my own (I love Sam's for this!) I get the jewel-tones.

Oops!  Guess I should have read the question.  Can I vote for pastel tones now?  (No wonder all those people in Florida were confused!)

Okay RadarO, we'll allow you to do that this time... but don't let it happen again or we'll have to make you eat okra.

Whoops!  Didn't read the question! (Where are my test-taking skills when I need them?)

But still, can we analyze the purchasing departments which only allow plain yellow?

I love the pop-up posties and I love the aquatic hues. However, when I used to work in credit and collections, our credit applications were the EXACT same shade as generic yellow stickies and the office manager would not let us get a different color! It drove us nuts because we usually had 2 or 3 stickies per credit app and everything was the same shade! Our boss ended up buying them for us in mass quantities and demanded to be reimbursed. The OM relented at last.

Speaking of bizarre purchasing policies, red pens and pencils are no longer standard supplies. We're an accounting firm. Don't you wonder sometimes who makes these policies up and what they were smoking that day?

Fluorescents - I am a fun and creative personality, even though I work here".

Pastels - "I am a sensitve person. Please be kind to me because I have to work here."

Aquatic Colours - "I am really a calm and relaxed person. I'm only not because I work here."

Plain Yellow - "I am no different to anyone else who works here."

Did you know Post-its have their own website? www.3m.com/postit/

I saw a lovely silver post-it note holder somewhere. It's on my birthday list.
