Do you use these sites? If so which ones and are some used more for personal as opposed to business or both? It is funny I look at the names on Twitter and see a large UK presence and on Linkedin more a US following. What do you use and what do you use it for?

Although I have accounts on all of them, the only one I am really active on from a posting perspective is LinkedIn. I think anyone who doesn't use that one on a professional level is missing a real future networking opportunity. There are surveys with HR that have been done that said 18% of HR professionals did NOT interview someone for a job because they couldn't find any social media presence for the candidate. On the other hand, 35% have decided not to make an offer to a candidate because of something the candidate said or did on social media, so there's the flip side of not being stupid about what you post.  |

I have a Linkedin account, along with a Govloop account, both for professional purposes. I have a FB page, mainly for use as a link to friends and family, and I love some of the games. :-) On my FB page, I do follow some of my companies FB pages, to keep up with what is being told to the public, what the public issues being raised are, etc. However, I have not gotten into the Twitter stuff. Not really understanding what it is and why it is.... hubby has tried to show me and it seems useless to me overall. Will stick with what I know. :-)

I am on linked-in, twitter (don't use that very often), and facebook. The latter is for personal use only. I am very careful with facebook. My circle of friends is very tightly knit and doesn't include anyone from my professional life. I'm very conscious how messages on social media can get out of hand and go viral.

I'm on linked-in and on Xing.
Both I use mainly for professional purposes, like finding out about the wherabouts of "dead end contacts" in my CRM system.
To a small extent I use Xing for staying in touch with my colleagues from the German National Association of Office Administration Staff since they are spread all over Germany.

Linked in, Twitter, facebook (for personal use) and PInterest...
Twitter most active for work, followed by Pinterest, and LinkedIn updated regularly.

I use Xing and once in a while Linkedin. I need it to check on job candidates or to update on contact persons in my CRM.
